PULPIT

The carved white oak from the Black Forest of Germany is highlighted with a profusion of rosettes, angels and lacy patterns, the pulpit was carved by the celebrated August Schmidt in his studio in Cologne. In the canopy are sculptures of four Latin Doctors and saints: Gregory, Augustine, Jerome, and Ambrose; the fifth figure is St. John the Evangelist. The butterfly in the center of the pulpit is a symbol of immortality.
