SHRINE ALTARS

In the south side aisle is the altar dedicated to Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Carved of oak by August Schmidt and adorned with pearls and jewels, once stolen and later replaced by Ed Neumann, Grathis. The Greek icon paintings are of early 5th century. Carl Fuchs did the polychrome paintings and also the highlighting in gold. In 1866 the ancient picture of Our Lady of Perpetual Help was solemnly enthroned on the high altar of the Church of St. Alphonsus, Rome.
