Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral
Rosary Cathedral is dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God. The artistry of the cathedral, with rare and precious items gathered from every quarter of the earth, carries out a master plan with a major purpose which is glorification of God. Truly, our Catholic cathedrals are our "Halls of Fame" dedicated to our saints and heroes of the church. We have in this edifice is art, history and religion all rolled together.
History
The Toledo Diocese was established in 1910 and took sixteen years to construct under the direction of Z.J. Bergeon, builder and liturgical consultants of Rambush, Inc.,NY.
Artists and Craftsmen from Austria, Germany, Poland, Italy, England, Hungary and parts of the United States contributed with carvings, sculptoring, glass making, stone making and painting. Rosary Cathedral is the only Spanish Plateresque cathedral in the world. It is a modern example of 13th century technology. Not a single piece of construction steel was used in building the cathedral. The cathedral houses the last of the six original Skinner organ left in the U.S.
